South African Muaythai Organisation

The South African Muaythai Organisation  (SAMO) is the national governing body responsible for the regulation, development, and promotion of Muaythai in South Africa. Operating in alignment with internationally recognised standards, the organisation provides athletes, coaches, and officials with access to recognised global Muaythai structures and progression systems.

Committed to the sustainable growth of the sport, the organisation upholds a professional, inclusive framework that prioritises athlete development, safety, education, and equal opportunity. Clearly defined rules, structured education programmes, and formal accreditation systems ensure consistent standards across all levels of participation.

Through officially sanctioned competitions and championship title bouts, a clear and progressive framework is established—from grassroots participation to elite and professional Muaythai—enabling South African athletes to advance nationally and compete on the international stage.

​World Muay Thai Organization is a global sanctioning body overseeing amateur, pro-am and professional Muay Thai competition.

The Kru Muaythai Association (KMA) ​

The Kru Muaythai Association (KMA) is a non-profit, culturally recognized organisation based in Thailand that focuses on preserving, standardising, and teaching both Muay Thai and Muay Boran (the older, traditional form). It is accredited by the Thai Ministry of Culture and Education and has been operating since 2003.

The organisation brings together Masters and Grand Masters of Muay Thai and Muay Boran to develop structured education and certification programmes.
It emphasises cultural heritage, technique, tradition, and respect for the roots of the art.

World Muay Boran Federation (WMBF)

​The World Muay Boran Federation (WMBF) governs the preservation, education, and technical standards of Muay Boran. WMBF affiliation supports traditional combat knowledge, historical techniques, and non-sportive instructional frameworks.

Martial Arts South Africa (MASA)


Martial Arts South Africa (MASA) is the official governing body for non-Olympic martial arts in South Africa, recognised by SASCOC (South African Sports Confederation andOlympic Committee).

Our organisation serves as an umbrella body for a wide variety of martial arts styles, bringing together athletes, instructors, and clubs from across the country to foster unity and development within the martial arts community.
